Delete your account – Walky Doggy

You can delete your Walky Doggy account and its data at any time, on iPhone and on Android. This page explains how, what is deleted, and what remains.

Option 1: Delete it in the app

This works the same way in the iOS app and in the Android app, and deletion starts as soon as you confirm.

Open the Profile tab and tap the gear icon at the top right to open Settings.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account (the last row, below Sign Out).
Confirm it's you (your password, or your Google or Apple sign-in).
Read the list of what will be deleted and confirm. This cannot be undone.

Option 2: Without the app

If you can no longer open the app, email us from the address of your account, with your username, and ask us to delete your account.

We may ask you to confirm that the account is yours. We process requests within 30 days.

What is deleted

Your profile, username, and the email address and notification tokens stored with your account
Your walks, with their routes, photos, notes, likes and comments
The comments and likes you left on other people's walks, and the emoji reactions you added to comments
Your dogs (if a dog is shared, you are only removed from its owners and the dog stays with the others)
Your friends list, friend requests and dog invitations
The notifications you received, and the notifications your activity generated for other users
Your woofies, shop inventory, achievements, challenges, XP and leaderboard entries
Your subscription records on our servers
All your photos and files in our storage
Your sign-in account (Firebase Authentication)

What remains, and for how long

The photo of a shared dog. If you uploaded the photo of a dog that you share with other owners, the photo stays with the dog, because the dog also belongs to them.
Usage statistics and crash reports. Google Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics and Google AdMob data, and on Android ML Kit and Google Maps data, is not linked to your account, so deleting your account does not erase it. It is kept for the period set by each provider, under their own privacy policies.
Purchase records. Apple and Google keep their own records of your purchases and subscription, under their policies.
A few old notifications. Notifications created before this deletion process was improved did not always record who triggered them, so a few may remain in other users' notification lists. Your emoji reactions themselves are removed.
Legal or operational needs. We may keep some data if the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of Walky Doggy and its users.
Cleanup that fails. If removing your files from storage fails, the failure is logged and the deletion is retried automatically every day; if it keeps failing, we remove the files by hand.
